Call of Duty 3

Do people still play this online? About how many at a given time? Not sure whether to get this for ps2 or ps3.

I'll go download a copy of it and check here in a minute. Do you know if the server is actually still online?

I've checked alot of the games this site listed as online and in actuality they've been shut down.

So hopefully this isn't another bummer.

I just got COD3 for PS3, a New sealed greatest hits version for $20. Was reluctant when I purchased it, but it was worth it! There seems to be 50+ people online at midday on a weekday, so that's not bad at all for such an old game! Don't know how the ps2 version is, but ps3 still going strong ;)

I downloaded it for Ps2 and it seems to be broken.

I could see 2-3 games but wasn't able to join any of them. kept getting a time out error.

Maybe it's because they're using pal versions? not sure honestly. but it was disappointing.

I don't know if a downloaded version would work online, wouldn't it fail the DNAS test?

It looks like it's a widespread issue....

I'll give you some education since you probably don't know.
Open Ps2 loader has a game Id entry mode (also known as DNAS)
all the DNAS checks for is a simple xx xx xx xx xx code.

x being a random value.

And since there are lists online for every game in existence. You can just import the code through game ID entry mode and it passes every time.

Here is a DNAS list for you to check out.

So no it never fails DNAS haha.

I play battlefront 2 online all the time without issues and It's a DNAS game.

Oh, that's good to know. So you use Free McBoot then to get open loader to work? I ordered an AR Max disc of amazon a few days ago and still waiting for it so I can install free McBoot on my memory card.
Oh, and the first link you gave me, they seem to be talking about the PS3, so it may or may not be the same problem with your ps2.

Yeah Freemcboot is auto booting . then you just launch open ps2 loader.

I think the problem is similar because they were talking about COD3 being a peer 2 peer game. meaning if your host doesn't have the proper ports open. you cant connect to them.

Also they said low stars = connection issues. and every person I've seen hosting has been a 1 star (and I subsequently can't join)

Yeah, I bet most of those hosts are in Europe, so if you're in North America, well, it'll give you 1 star.
On PS3 the lowest I've seen is 2 stars, and I don't really have a problem connecting to them (I'm in Western Canada btw)
