PS2Dis and IDApro Help DNS and DNAS patching

Post by redbeard »

Can anyone tell me how the dns address is found using a disassembler? I am wondering in what file on the ps2 disk is edited. Would it be the SCUS_97xx file like when creating cheat codes? How would the gate1.us.dnas address be patched out using ida or ps2dis? Would I need to convert the actual ip to hex and search the document for it that way?

no, DNAS software is inside DNASXXX.img, you can create cheat codes to fool the game to think its passed through DNAS check

Thank you for the replies. With that, I found this article for anyone interested in a run down on dnas.

I doubt you need to manually edit IP address since the game uses DNS. If you seriuos you probably be best just learning MIPS. Also if you just looking for code that disable DNAS this already exists for a lot of games. Only problem is it will require people to be able to run homebrew on their PS2 expect Mod discs probably will work for most games, but that beyond what most users feel comfortable with doing.
