We are not
trying to get him to buy obsolete thick ps2
He does not seem interested in buying a PS2 period.
He found it in the garbage a few months ago when he was cleaning up after his roommates. He was about to throw it out again before I told him
Mytho asked for help and we assisted.
AND the PS2's are pretty darn cheap at MOST Gamestops, even cheaper at flea markets.
I picked up my Xbox with 35 games for 10.00 at a flea market.
One just has to look around.

The guy asked for advice so we're giving advice. To be fair, though, he originally did ask about PS2 repair, not buying a PS2. In his original post he mentioned that he can get PS2s locally at Goodwill for $30! That sounds like a sweet deal, if you ask me.

You wouldn't trust a used PS2, but you would sell ONE?
No matter what you do to the one you have, it is still USED.
It appears to me, By your own post, you don't trust your own work.
PS2 servers will not be up forever--nothing is.

that didnt stop people from keeping the sega dreamcast up and running? hell they are still making games for that system as of this year. theres a new game coming out for it called Tahi the arocean war, and its online. why can't we keep the same positive attitude with the playstation 2? i mean come on even the sega saturn is still playable online and thats at least 16 years old. still we are getting off topic, anyways Mytho is your friend going to buy my ps2 or not? i need to know so i can get ready to post it on craigslists if not.

You just have to pay for the card and shipping. But of a fat if you get the network adapter just stick a hard drive on it and it would play games better and faster than a disk drive.
There are a lot of people out there like Favrenation that volunteer to configure your memory card for you. I know altec isn't a fan of the hard drive, but I think that it has extended the life of the PS2 significantly.

yeah if you have alot of fucking money to buy an HDD. i dont think mythos friend will have that kind of money to spend on an HDD. $20.00-$50.00 is alot for a fucking hard drive, considering they stopped making ps2 hdds around 04-05

Alright this thread is getting way off topic and a bit too hostile. Please do not post any more in this thread unless what you post is related to repairing a PS2.Also, please keep the discussion civil.

I just created a new topic about PS2 modding right here:

http://www.ps2onlinegaming.com/forum/vi ... f=13&t=332

Go there to continue talking about that. We know that modding PS2s has legitimate reasons to be done like so you can play your games off a hard drive when your laser is dying. But make sure you do not mention anything about pirating games as that is one of our few site rules.
