PS2 Beat em ups

Post by lazyhoboguy »

So I have been playing the Warriors game and its is really great. It plays like a 3d beat em up essentially.

I was wondering if you guys knew about any other 3d beat em ups that were good? I have heard godhand is good, but that is really the only other one I know about.

If you're looking for a cheap, polished beat em up on PS2, you should look into Urban Reign. I had a lot of fun with that game, even though the difficulty can be uneven at times. You'll breeze through 5 or 6 missions at a time, then get stuck until you figure out the best strategy for approaching the enemies. There are also 100 missions, but a majority of them are very short, lasting no more than 5 minutes or so.

Technically, the game runs at a flawless 60fps, and the character models look great. It has a very clean, crisp look to it. The environments start off a little drab, but progressively improve further into the game. My favorite is the city square with the overcast sky. You can see the rays of light pierce the clouds, which is a really cool touch.

Def Jam: Fight for NY is pretty good, though pretty bloody.
