Go here to ask for help about how to play your Playstation 2 online and through LAN tunneling programs like Xlink Kai. If you have any other questions about how to get your PS2 online ask them here.

Yes, but does UDP have any significance?
UDP is a part of the IP suite just like TCP. In contrast to TCP UDP doesn'tn have a connection to the destination host, so whenever UDP packets get lost they aren't requested to be send again. XLinkk communicates over UDP so that the UDP port 30000 has to be open.

And it forwards to the PC and not the console?

My firewall rules allows in bound services and out bound services, I have both open (is that needed?). which one do I need to be looking at?

Hmm if that port checking tool says port 30000 is open then it xlink kai should say your network is reachable. It sometimes says not yet for awhile before it tells you it is reachable, so give it a few minutes to detect it. If you are not reachable xlink kai will eventually boot you out of the program and tell you so and that you need to port forward.

I wonder if your firewall on your pc is messing with xlink, I would try turning it off temporarily while you are testing this.

It has now decided that the network is reachible, maybe it needed a night to sleep on it.

Here is how stuff looks now: http://i362.photobucket.com/albums/oo64 ... -link3.gif

The number values at the top picture of the plugged in globe keep changing, while those just below them remain at 0, everything else also remains constant. I've included the config screen to see if there is anything wrong there.

EDIT: Now I have just restarted Kia and it claims the network not to be reachible. That might be because it is trying to connect me to Montreal.

I'll hook up a PS2 later and see if I have anymore look with that. I'm going to be popular since the monitor I have this PS3 and PC plugged into won't take PS2 leads...

Blast! I just tried using my PS2 and it still gave me "Console failed to configure". I'm starting to suspect my network configuration file on the memory card, I'm wondering if not all games where it can be set up have the same options for setting it up. I have been using Rachet and Clank 3 to set it up, but to access the set up I have to access the online (not LAN) menu some I'm wondering if that doesn't give me LAN abilities. The LAN menu doesn't have a network configuration file set up.

This requires some looking into... :ugeek:

I think TS2 is the only other game I have with a network setup utility, thing is I have never seen that on any TS2 menu. Where is it hiding?
