After quite a bit of tweaking by FreddY, Favrenation and CHC, the following Atari games are now back online for PS2!

Deer Hunter
Risk: Global Domination

How is this possible?
The online servers for both of these games remain online, maintained by GameSpy. Somewhere along the line, it seems that Atari did not opt to renew online support with GameSpy for both Deer Hunter and Risk: Global Domination. As evidenced by this thread at the official Atari Forums, matchmaking services were discontinued for both of these games, essentially rendering them terminated. What we have done is restored matchmaking services for both of these games so that players are seamlessly able to connect to them online!

Here is a quote concerning the discontinuation of GameSpy support for Risk: Global Domination (and consequently, Deer Hunter) for PS2:
Joost Schuur, Developer Support Manager, IGN Entertainment wrote:Atari did not opt to renew support for this particular title with GameSpy. Matchmaking services for it have been discontinued.

In order to play online, just set your Primary DNS Server in your PS2 Network Configuration to EITHER one of these:

99.198.122.113
(Openspy.net DNS 1 hosted by Openspy.)

or

199.195.251.151
(DNS 1 hosted by Bobz of BobzEnt.info; The DNS server number occasionally changes, so if you are having trouble please check BobzEnt.info and compare DNS 1 to what you have saved on your memory card)
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

If you have this game and would like to schedule a time to play, reply to this thread or post a topic over in the Game Scheduling section.

Be sure to spread the word.

Special thanks to FreddY, Favrenation and CHC for re-enabling matchmaking services for Deer Hunter and Risk: Global Domination.
