List of PS2 games that work with Dualshock 1 controllers

Post by lazyhoboguy »

Many of you might now know this, but the dualshock 1 controller for the Playstation 1 works with many games on the Playstation 2. It is completely dependent on the games though, so some work with the dualshock 1 while others do not.

Why would anyone even care about dualshock 1 controllers working on a PS2 some of you make be thinking?

Well I find that they are built a lot better that dualshock 2s for the Playstation 2. The analog sticks especially are why I prefer the dualshock 1 over the dualshock 2. I find that they wear out a lot slower than their Playstation 2 controller big brother. To me, the movements of the analog sticks feels a lot more fluid and smooth and I notice a big difference in first person shooters especially when I substitute the dualshock 2 with a dualshock 1.

A dualshock 1 is also beneficial because unlike a dualshock 2 it does not have squishy analog buttons. The buttons on ps2 controllers are all squishy because they are pressure sensitive. This can add cool features in some games (and is why some games do not support dualshock 1 controllers, but for many all it means is that now you have to jam down on the face button really hard to get it to recognize you are pushing it in. The dualshock 1's buttons are not pressure sensitive, so the slightest press moves them down and lets the game recognize this.

List of PS2 games that work with a dualshock 1 controller

So here is an in progress list of which games do work with it and which games do not work with a dualshock 1 controller. I have personally tested about half of these. If you guys own a dualshock 1 and discover a game that also works with dualshock 1, post in this thread and I will add that game to the list. If you discover a game does not support dualshock 1 controllers, post in this thread as well to let us know.

The games in the list are in alphabetical order for your viewing pleasure :D .
