If, in the TOCA 3 (Normal) I get "Race Driver 3 not available any longer."

In Cold Winter, i get the same message.
Checking my log, with TOCA 3 you are getting to GameSpy login. Try loading the game without your memory card, Make new in-game net settings and use my DNS. Your gamespy account doesn't exist yet on openspy and this may cause it to drop you.

Cold Winter doesn't get as far. Will have to be looked into more.

X-Men is not in my log at all.
It'll stay in "Adding User Please wait" :(

This is sad news...I'm actually disappointed I never got to experience 2v2 (or higher) Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball online.

Well that game does have a LAN mode. And it seems like people tested it on Bob's server and it works still.

very sad indeed,
i have been playing star wars battlefront 2 loads recently, (still works) will be destroyed if the server goes off!
how can they justify this without any warning?

It's still on Kai, I tested it on Kai with a friend who had a DVD-R and it works well, plus there's no patch. :D

I only partially used it, because full implementation would break apart working Gamespy games from their regular servers, making it so you couldn't play on games that were actually online. With this news I have stuck the records back in on DNS1. As CHC made Openspy as a substitute for Gamespy, not much may be needed to bring back full functionality. Give the games above a try on 199.195.251.151 and see how far you get.

With this, games that can still use Gamespy, but use my DNS for something else, (Battlefield), Unless you want to transition the game over to Openspy, Use DNS2 to create your account/play. Or if you already have your account, use automatic settings to play without my DNS.

Let me know how far the DNS gets you into the game.

To clarify, is this list of games you tried on your DNS using openspy?

Also, CHC, the creator of openspy, has created a thread asking for our help in testing and packet capturing games in order to make them work on openspy. So all of you, please check out this thread and try to help test things or capture packets if you can: http://www.ps2onlinegaming.com/forum/vi ... 7450#p7450

The list is based off testing on openspy.

FreddY messaged me last night to confirm that Heroes of the Pacific is still online. There must have been an issue on my end while I was testing that particular game. My list has been amended to reflect this change.

Based on my research over the weekend, here are the results.

Every PS2 Online Game hosted by GameSpy (besides the untested games listed at the bottom) has been tested on both GameSpy & OpenSpy.

NEWS / NOTES
Bottom line, if a PS2 GameSpy online game REQUIRES a "GameSpy ID Login Account" (Nickname, E-mail address and Password) in order to play online, it does not currently work on OpenSpy.

Using OpenSpy, GameSpy ID Account Creation does not work on ANY PS2 online game at all.

If OpenSpy adds a working GameSpy ID Login database/server, then the ENTIRE PS2 GameSpy library will work on OpenSpy!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since GameSpy ID Account Creation does not work through OpenSpy, you MUST use BobzEnt.info DNS #2 (GameSpy) in order to create accounts for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and to play these games ONLINE: All-Star Baseball 2005, Blitz: The League, MLB SlugFest: Loaded, NBA Ballers, NBA Ballers: Phenom, Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

  • All PS2 online games that currently work on OpenSpy DO NOT require a GameSpy ID Account Creation in order to play online.
  • There are just a few games which do not require GameSpy ID Account Creation for online play, but still won't connect to OpenSpy. These games are Area 51, Cold Winter, Godzilla: Save the Earth, Star Wars: Battlefront II, Trivial Pursuit Unhinged, Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior, World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker and X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse.
  • While using OpenSpy, you can access the online mode and host games on Star Wars: Battlefront II, Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior and X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, but these hosted games DO NOT post to the OpenSpy Status Pages.
  • While hosting an online game on Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior through OpenSpy, an error message is eventually received reading "The game could not be registered to the GameSpy Master Server."
  • Accessing the online mode of X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse through OpenSpy, you are first directed to a "Region List" which is completely blank. You can press X to bypass this page to Host/Join a game. However, hosted games on OpenSpy do not post to the OpenSpy Status Page.
  • It's unclear whether or not World Poker Tour is offline as a result of the recent server terminations, since 2K Sports' other GameSpy game, Top Spin, is still online. On World Poker Tour, an error message is received immediately after DNAS authentication reading "The Online Server cannot be accessed at this time. Please try again later."
  • Midnight Club 2 works with OpenSpy and does not feature DNAS, making it "Online Forever" through means of OpenSpy and LAN tunneling, along with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.
  • For some reason, the Tony Hawk Series for PS2 is BACK ONLINE through GameSpy's normal servers. The normal online lobbies are now accessible. However, a special DNS server is still needed in order to receive the Message Of The Day.
