Sadly the problem with these kinds of methods is many people are flat out unaware, and game store employees know little about them. Just take a look at many PC games that "die" out after official servers get pulled. It doesn't help that the PS2's online was unknown compared to even the Original Xbox...

Midnight Club 2 should be up via OpenSpy AFAIK, it's an early PS2 game without DNAS.

Only a handful of games lack DNAS, and most of the ways around DNAS so far have been to generate fake IDs so you can run it with burnt copies. Basically you go into system link mode in the game, find games, then load up Xlink Kai and it basically tricks the console into thinking you're in a LAN with other consoles.
Nobody ever does it on PS2/xbox, other then Halo 2, though.
