TimeSplitters: Rewind ----> Servers SwiftPing

Post by Red 2Late »

this is a really good news take your time to read it please :

First off, I want to say thank you to you all - our fans. None of this would never have been possible if it wasn’t for everyone raising awareness for a TimeSplitters 4 and Crytek UK giving us permission to working on TimeSplitters Rewind. We are all so honored to be working on TimeSplitters Rewind - the next semi-official TimeSplitters game!

We’re working very hard on bringing you a true TimeSplitters experience. This means we want it to be as close to or spot on to the original gameplay of the first three games. We firmly believe in giving you options. I don’t mean just simple choices here or there either. The framework we’re working on will allow players to choose how they play.

We started asking for donations last night and this came as a surprise to some fans. I want to clarify some things so that we are all on the same page.

Donations are going towards server costs. We have a web server that hosts our website(s) and a few VPS’s that house all of our hard work. We’ve implemented a system so there is a backup of a backup. We’ve partnered up with SwiftPing, who hosted the backend for DayZ, to host the backend for TimeSplitters Rewind. This means that when you launch the game - you can join a dedicated server because that server is actually communicating with a master server. A master server is basically a server that keeps record of every server and when the list is pulled by a player - it displays the game, number of players, ruleset, latency and a bunch of other information.

Maybe it’s just me, but I grew up in a time when there were Windows and Linux dedicated servers. I want that to come back. Right now we are focusing on Windows dedicated servers, mostly because we have no one who can do anything Linux related. If you are able to help out on that front - we’ll be more than welcome to bring you on board.

We can’t do a KickStarter or an IndieGoGo campaign to raise money for TimeSplitters Rewind. That would be considered profiting and would get us into a considerable amount of trouble. Accepting donations to help with server costs is perfectly fine though and we really want to say thank you to all of you who have already donated. Those who donate will be featured in the credits of TimeSplitters Rewind and all feature projects that we work on as a Thank You.

Screenshots will be coming soon. We are sticklers for quality - we don’t want to release something that we feel isn’t done. When we released the screenshot of Duckman Drake, it was because he was 110% complete.

I hope this answers most of your questions, I know you all have many more and I will be more than welcome to answer them on Facebook, Skype or any other method of communication.

We will be setting up a home channel on an IRC network and opening up our forums soon. We all want to communicate with the community openly and share the developmental journey with everyone.

More information can be found on the official Facebook page for TimeSplitters Rewind!

Thank you all so much!
