Just got back from my usual Wednesday rounds, and ended up snagging quite a few PS2 games. I forgot to update this when I got Black last week since I had mentioned it when I purchased Midway Arcade Treasures 1. Be sure to look forward to a forthcoming post on my thoughts regarding Black.

Anyway, here are the PS2 games I purchased today from the pawn shop:

Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Game (PS2)* - $2
Unreal Tournament (PS2)* - $2
Hypersonic Xtreme (PS2)* - $2
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (PS2)* - $2
Warriors Orochi (PS2)* - $2

I'd be excited to get any one of those games for $2, let alone all five of them. All of these games were complete, in various condition. Rayman and King Kong are in the best shape, followed by Hypersonic Xtreme in good shape, with Warriors Orochi (needs a new case) and Unreal Tournament (needs new case, wear on top of the artwork) in the worst shape.

I will be potentially returning later in the week to purchase a few others I had my eye on.

Wow those are some great deals and I am jealous haha. I want King Kong and Unreal Tournament . I haven't heard of Hypersonic Extreme. I think Warriors Orochi is like a Dynasty Warriors type of game right?

Yes, that is correct. It is a mash-up of Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors. It is supposed to be a very content-heavy game as well. I imagine that it'll be one of those games you can always pick back up and make progress in.

Hypersonic Xtreme is a budget futuristic racer from Majesco. It isn't a great game, but since I like futuristic racers, I decided to check it out. The big feature of this game is the track creation tool (or, as the game calls it, Xclusive TrakEditor!!!).

I forgot to post about the PS2 games I got when I visited eStarland's retail location a few weeks ago.

Among others, I picked Gungrave and Disaster Report up. Gungrave is something I have been looking forward to playing for quite a few years now. I remember hearing about it in EGM way back when, and thought it sounded cool.

Disaster Report was something I picked up on a whim. I wasn't near my $50 spending limit at eStarland, so I told the clerk that I wanted another game real quick. I need to choose something quickly, as the line was 3 people deep. My eyes ran through the first of several HUGE shelves of PS2 games, and Disaster Report stuck out. Simple as that really.

I also visited a thrift store across the street while waiting for the bus and found some PS2 games in there, but nothing of note. Mainly some sports games, a Disney skating game, and Soul Calibur III. SCIII was the only interesting one, but it had some scratches and was covered in EB Games stickers. Even though it was $3, I didn't feel too bad passing on it.

I am curious about disaster report, it looks pretty unique.

disaster report is a pretty fun game for what it is. It has some big flaws but if you look past them it's an enjoyable game. It's extremely short though, You could easily beat it in one sitting. It does have branching story paths though so it some what encourages repeat play. As Destructor would say "I recommend"
