http://www.mobygames.com/game/ps2/nascar-heat-2002
I haven't played the PS2 version of Nascar Heat 2002, but according to that page, it came out in July of 2001, which is several months before Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, the first online game to come out in America, got released. That would mean that Nascar Thunder 2002 also came out over a year before the PS2 network adapter came out. Also, on the back cover, the list of supported features doesn’t include "Network Adapter." (or "USB Ethernet adapter," or "USB modem," for that matter.) Therefore, it's quite safe to say that the PS2 version of the game doesn't have LAN mode.
Also, this: http://www.mobygames.com/game/ps2/star- ... Id,117408/ I'm fairly certain that the PS2 version of Star Wars: The Clone Wars doesn't have LAN, either.

FreddY: The Moto GP titles on the Xbox were created by a completely different developer (Climax) than Moto GP on the PS2 (Namco). A direct comparison isn't really applicable between the two games.

Yeah, the back cover of Namco's MotoGP 3 doesn't list Network Adapter as one of the supported features, in contrast to Climax's MotoGP 3. FreddY already noted that MotoGP 2 doesn't have LAN mode, and that game's back cover doesn't list "Network Adapter."
A few others:
Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection
Corvette
So it's safe to say that if a PS2 game doesn't have "Network Adapter" listed as one of the features on the back, it doesn't have LAN mode, regardless of whether versions of the game released on other platforms do have LAN. While I'm on the subject, I found a scan of the back cover of the PS2 version of Conan. No mention of the Network Adapter peripheral.

You really cant rely on labels because there are xbox games that say system link when they dont have it.

Ah yes, there are Xbox games that say system link when they don't have it, but are there any Xbox games that say they don't have system link when they do have it? The manuals to the PAL versions of the some of the PS2 Armored Core games that say they have network features, when in reality, they don't support such a feature, but I don't know of any PS2 game that has network functionality, but whose documentation says that the game does not.
I have already named three examples of games that do not have the network adapter listed on the back, which FreddY has already confirmed do not have LAN mode. There may be a Playstation 2 game that doesn't have the network adapter listed on the back, but that does nevertheless support online and/or LAN play. However, the burden of proof would be on whomever thinks that such a game exists.

Both Black Hawk Down games don't have LAN. Only got Spit Screen and Spit co-op.
