PlayStation 2 officially discontinued

I saw the signs coming when I noticed new consoles were shooting up in price, but the news is still sobering nonetheless. If you want to grab a new console, better do so while you still can.

Sad. I was hoping the price of new ps2s would drop to 70 or 50 so I could pick up like 2 for the future. Right now the price is shooting up from the 100 dollar point it used to be at. Looks like 130 bucks is the current price for a new ps2 and its hard to even find many of those. There are a few listings on amazon for that. If any of you want to pick up a new ps2 now is the time to do it. The price is only going to shoot up for new ones as time goes on.

hell, i got two fat boys and they still rock
i did think it was funny that i saw someone buy a new ps2 from wal mart for $100 a couple of months ago
i was like for a little more you can get a wii or a gay box 360 or a ps3
but he seemed happy in his purchase. i wish he knew about this forum for online access

Not too surprised, especially with the unveiling of the PS3's successor right around the corner. I felt a bit uneasy about the system lasting much longer after GameStop purged their PS2 merchandise.
12 and a half years is quite a long time, especially in the world of technology for something to last that long commercially. But hey, we still have online gaming

they make shit really good when it comes out... i mean it lasts
then in time they have the cheaper version like the ps3 even
and it's not as good except...
the gay box never had this problem because they're shit doesn't last from the start
