PS2 Packets for Online Games
Re: PS2 Packets for Online Games
Added Sniper Elite. I noticed that Sniper uses the IRC protocol for chatting, lol. Would be great if you can manage to connect to the same server+chan from mIRC or irssi

Or most Dreamcast games, PSO got packet logged but many of the ones people beg to bring back were never logged.tool8 wrote:Sure, Ill have to buy a copy of the game first. Good thing PS2 games are cheap nowadays...SG-17 wrote:Can you do SWBF2 next since GameSpy seems to be on a warpath?
Basically packet logging is just tracing the incoming and outcoming data between the PS2 and the server. By doing this it will help a lot if you want to make a mirror server. For example, people are trying to get Resident Evil Outbreak back online but nobody have actually logged the packets from when it was online so it seems they are in deep trouble getting it back online, which is sad.

Managed to get a copy of SWBF2 so I have now added it too.

Re: PS2 Packets for Online Games
tool,
From what I remember, there is a patch update in-game for SWBF2. Did you have to get this?
If so, and it is in your log, that will make things even better for it.

Re: PS2 Packets for Online Games
If someone with knowledge of how to capture packets would like to create a guide on this process, I think it would be extremely helpful for us. Would let other people start helping to capture packets before the rest of the gamespy games start going offline.
Also, for those of you that are already doing this or who want to help, please check out the thread created by CHC, the creator of openspy, about what he needs from us in order to help get more gamespy games working on openspy:

I've stickied his thread. Will try to add in all the testing info/ packet captures you guys have done to his thread. Try to post your new findings and packet captures in his thread too so he sees them.

Re: PS2 Packets for Online Games
Okay I think Area 51 has been made offline via DNS (like other midway games) Anyway to get that back online now? I THINK it's offline anyway

Area 51 is the best... Got it for £1.50 (around 2.50 dollars and 1.90 euros)

Re: PS2 Packets for Online Games
Do you mean DNAS? If it were offline by DNS (in that the domain name expired,) getting the game back online would be a simple matter of having Bobz add another entry to his DNS server. If DNAS now rejects Area 51, playing the game online again would be a bit more complicated.
